Important Safety Information

Here at Taylors Lead Lounge we want all our customers to be safe. Please pay careful attention to safety precautions before you start. You use any of our products entirely at your own risk. Taylors Lead Lounge cannot accept liability for any injury caused.

The fumes that come off lead are very dangerous. They can do long term harm to your health. Only melt lead in a well-ventilated area. Make sure you melt enough lead for the amount of weights you want to make – do not be tempted to add extra lead to the pot once the lead has melted as this could cause an explosion if any moisture is present.

There is also a high risk of SERIOUS BURNS. Molten lead is extremely hot. Suitable goggles and gloves must be worn at all times. If you are attempting to do this outside do so when there is no risk of rain as any moisture that comes into contact with the lead will cause the lead to explode.

Essential kit:

• Enough lead to make the desired amount of weights
• Suitable gloves
• Gas mask
• No bare skin i.e. keep your shirt on
• Goggles
• Suitable pan to melt the lead in
• Ladle
• Lead mould
• Clamp or vice
• Stove or burner
